She's lived in New York, built a house in Portugal, and renovated in Dalarna. After ten years of exploration, photographer and ceramicist Pia Ulin is back in Stockholm. In her newly produced rental apartment in Midsommarkransen, there's a Portal shelf in every room - it sneaks out into the hallway, into the wardrobe, and the drawer units move directly up onto the wall. We visit a creative and personal hideaway!

FAQ

Can I rebuild the shelf if I move or my needs change?

Yes. All parts of Portal are separate, so you can move sections, cabinets and drawers, mirror the shelf or split it across two walls. The shelf adapts as life changes.

Can I start with a smaller shelf and add to it later?

Absolutely. You can add shelf ladders, shelves, cabinets and drawers at any time and extend your shelf. Many people start simple and build on as their needs grow.

How do I know which size fits my room?

Measure the width of the wall and the ceiling height. A good tip is to mark out the shelf’s dimensions on the wall with masking tape, so you can see how big it will be. Will the shelf work on my wall?

The shelf ladders are fixed to the wall with two screws for low ladders and three screws for tall ladders. Screws and wall plugs in a matching colour are included, and are intended for walls of good quality. If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll help you.

Can I see the colour before I buy?

Yes. You can order colour samples. If the shelf doesn’t turn out the way you imagined, you have a 30-day return policy.
